STEF’s environmental policy focuses on energy consumption and innovations to reduce its environmental impacts all along the supply chain.
Reducing the carbon footprint of our transport activities
STEF has embarked on continuous programs to reduce CO2 emissions.
- In France, STEF obtained the “Objectif CO2” label for environmental-friendly road haulage companies in July 2016and this for a three-year period. This label rewards STEF for a 20% reduction of its greenhouse gas emissions between 2009 and 2014.
- In the Netherlands, STEF Bodegraven received in 2017 the 2nd Star of the “Lean & Green”, an international program that encourages and supports companies in reducing their CO2 emissions for their transport and logistics activities.
In order to consider the entire supply chain, STEF has chosen to incorporate estimated CO2 emissions related to all transport subcontracting for all countries in these programs.
Reducing the environmental impacts of all our activities
As part of its process to reduce its carbon footprint, STEF continues its reducing management plans on water consumption, energy consumption and waste management.
In 2016, STEF saw the renewal of its ISO 50 001 certification for the implementation of its energy management system in France. This program focuses on controlling electricity consumption and continuously improving practices in operational processes. The savings made in 2016 were up to 9 GWh, which is a 2.7% reduction and equivalent to the electricity consumption of approximately 2,100 homes.
