Preserving our environment

Being aware of the issues around climate change, we have implemented a concerted and sustainable environmental policy to build a healthier and more sustainable future.

Limiting our footprint

STEF’s environmental policy focuses on energy consumption and innovations to reduce its environmental impacts all along the supply chain.

STEF Bodegraven received the 2nd Star of the Lean & Green program in 2017. Lean & Green is an international program that encourages and supports companies in reducing their CO2 emissions from their transport and logistics activities.

The STEF Group has just been rewarded by the 2nd Star thanks to four main measures:

  • Establishment of a Benelux network between the 3 sites in the Netherlands (Bodegraven, Eindhoven and Raalte) and with STEF Saintes in Belgium, to consolidate the volumes and reduce the number of kilometers traveled
  • Installation of a road optimization software to reduce the number of kilometers traveled
  • Commissioning of steering axle trailers to reduce fuel consumption and increase tire life
  • Electric cooling system on our newest trailers

We are focusing on implementing ecologically responsible solutions based on alternative technologies that are less polluting in order to reduce our carbon footprint.

Carbon Footprint

With two CO2 calculators certified by Bureau Veritas Certification, STEF can provide its customers with:

  • The carbon footprint for transport services, regardless of the loading or unloading point, travelling to or from the European countries in which the Group operates.
  • The carbon footprint for the logistics services carried out on their behalf.

In 2017, STEF has updated its transport CO2 calculator in order to give its customers information in CO2e (Greenhouse Gas).

Health & Security

STEF pays close attention to any potential threat to the cold chain and to the environment in a market where all transport and storage activities are strictly regulated (sanitary certifications, sites authorizations, transportation controls).

Internally, our efforts are focused on two fields:

  • adapting and improving our equipment and tools to make them safer and more reliable,
  • find new technologies to reduce their impact on the environment and to save energy.
